Assembly Operator

Job Purpose

This position is responsible for operating assigned equipment and for the movement of WIP (Work in Process) through the factory in a cost-effective, safe and timely manner. Be prepared to cross-train throughout the assembly area learning the different skills each area requires.

Essential Functions

Must have previous clean room and electronic component assembly experience. Knows, understands and follows all Safety and Quality policies and procedures. Becomes trained and certified on a key equipment set or process including all support tools Consistently and accurately refers to and follows written and oral process specifications and offers suggestions for improvement. Recognizes equipment or process problems and actively seeks help by notifying supervisor and responsible engineer. Able to access and accurately record all SPC, traveler, process control and engineering data collection information. Learns and demonstrates error-free Electronic component handling and transport techniques. Complete scrap, rework & other paperwork with supervision Understands and meets daily production goals for the workstation or seeks help to do so. Understands throughput of the area production equipment Knows the supplier and customer for the workstation. Uses on-line and other production tools to plan work with supervision Communicates and passes down equipment and process status. Adheres to EMCORE corporate policies and procedures. Understands SPC control charts and follows corrective actions with limited supervision Assists in training others as required Assists engineering in solving equipment and process problems Performs special processing requests with minimal supervision Identifies nonconformances when they occur and participates in finding the solution to the nonconformance. Deploys the Quality Management System as it applies to the scope of work.

Preferences

Applies acquired job skills and company policies and procedures to complete routine tasks. PC knowledge preferred. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work in a team environment. Ability to work a compressed shift. Ability to work on multiple tasks. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the English language. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. Travel as required. HS or Equivalent REQUIRED. Typically requires a minimum of 1 year of related experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
