CFD Project Engineer

Job Purpose

This is a unique opportunity to work with the state-of-the-art simulation technology for fluid-particle flows across diverse industries, and to make major contributions to our customer’s production of oil, electricity, specialty chemicals and high-purity materials. Your efforts can help enable critical, emerging technologies such as coal and biomass gasifiers, low-emissions CFB coal plants, economical extraction of tar sands for petroleum feedstocks from North American reserves, and high-purity silicon for photovoltaics.

Essential Functions

Perform engineering analysis of complex, three-dimensional, transient fluid – particle systems in industrial processes using classical techniques as well as our Computational Particle Fluid Dynamics (CPFD®) software technology. The ideal candidate will have experience with both commercial Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software and fluidized particle systems. Successful applicants will be self-starters and will assume responsibility for large-scale engineering analysis activities with minimal supervision. Additional duties include software testing and customer support. Position Responsibilities:Understand customer objectives and plan engineering project work-scope. Perform computational analysis of fluid – particle systems. Evaluate and analyze results and critically evaluate design / systematic modifications. Customer support. Software testing. New user training

Preferences

BS or MS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or equivalent. Minimum of 3 years industrial CFD experience. Experience modeling compressible / thermal fluid flow behavior in industrial systems is required. Technical knowledge of fluidized systems and reaction kinetics is highly desirable. Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. Familiarity with CAD and CAE applications. Critical evaluation skills. Ability to make sound decisions by blending analytical thinking with practical judgment. Ability to rationally explain decisions to management and customers. Desire for continuous learning. Ability to work individually as well as in a team environment. Familiarity with Linux. USA Citizenship or Permanent residency is REQUIRED
